Troubleshooting

I cannot scan in Docustore 7 What do I need to do?

Troubleshooting Steps:

  • 1st step: Make sure the scanner is plugged in and turned ON.
  • 2nd step: Make sure you have the full version of Adobe® Acrobat® 4, 5, 7, 8, 9 or 10 and that PDF files open by default in Adobe® Acrobat® 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, or 10 full version not Adobe® Acrobat® Reader.
  • 3rd step: Make sure the scanner works in Adobe® Acrobat® 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, or 10. To verify this choose “File” à “Import” à “Scan” and select the scanner and see if you can scan one or two pages. If this step is successful then you should be able to scan from Docustore 7. (Refer to page 35 in Adobe® Acrobat® Help for more details.)
  • 4th step: Make sure you are logged in as an admin or as a scanner to Docustore 2008; with viewing licenses you cannot scan.
  • 5th step: Make sure the scanner is installed properly.
  • Some scanners may be able to scan documents into Adobe® Acrobat® using a different type of communication other than TWAIN scanner driver. This is not supported by Docustore 7.
  • Some computers with low-resolution graphic card driver may allow you to scan from Adobe® Acrobat® but not from Docustore 7; one solution might be to install a better driver for the graphic card or try a different graphic card.
  • Some scanners might require an updated “ASPI Layer”. Visit www.adaptec.com and search for the latest ASPI layer for more information.

Docustore 7 was uninstalled or corrupted.

  • Backup the default database (i.e. C:\Program Files\Docustore 2008\dbase.mdb or C:\Program Files\SuperFileIt!\dbase.mdb)
  • If “Docustore 7” or “SuperFileIt!” is showing up under Add/Remove Programs, uninstall it.
  • Install Docustore 7. Click here to Download the latest version
  • Note: There might be other problems causing this error type; look for other support articles or contact us for more information.

Error: unrecognized database format

  • If you get the following error message at the login screen:
    unrecognized database format ‘C:\yourDataStorageFolder\yourdatabase.mdb’
  • Make a backup of your database and then use the Microsoft® JETCOMP.exe compression tool to compress yourDatabase.mdb (source) into a blank blankdbase.mdb (destination).
  • Please contact us if you don’t know the password.

Data Structure

In versions 3.3.4 and up, a typical structure of data looks like this:
Error message Screenshot
Assume the database name is: ‘Netword_db.mdb’ as in the above picture.
The structure consists of:
– ‘Netword_db.mdb’: Database file.
– ‘Netword_db’: Documents storage folder related to the ‘Netword_db.mdb’ database.
These two items – i.e. database and its related folder (in this case: ‘Netword_db.mdb’ and ‘Netword_db’) have to be together all the time. If you would like to copy them or move them to a new location (e.g. another location on the hard-drive, a network folder, a network drive, or a location on a server) you have to make sure that they are both saved on the same location.
